Scottish Maritime Museum Set to Host First Ever Spring Creatives Market

The Scottish Maritime Museum gets set to host the first Spring Creatives Market bringing together an exciting showcase of talented local crafters and artisans on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March.

Running from 11am to 4pm inside the Museum’s impressive, glass-roofed Linthouse and Courtyard on Irvine Harbourside, the free two-day event will also be the Museum’s largest market to date. Visitors will enjoy browsing from more than 70 skilled artisans, makers and food and drink producers from across Ayrshire on show each day.

The Spring Creatives Market builds on the Museum’s popular programme of free markets celebrating local artisans and producers. It will be followed by the Makers and Producers Market in August and Winter Market in November.

At the Spring Creatives Market, visitors can look forward to a colourful and creative mix of stalls offering arts and prints, stained and fused glass art, ceramics, textiles, knitting, jewellery, home fragrances and wellness ranges, handcrafted homeware, garden ornaments, gifts and delicious food and drink.

Announcing the Spring Creatives Market, Christopher Woodland at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:

Our first Spring Creatives Market will be a treasure trove of artisan creations, delicious treats and perfect seasonal gifts all made by talented local creatives.

“Join us for a fantastic weekend celebration of creativity, community, and craftsmanship! With free entry to both the Market and Museum, it will be a great day out for all ages!”

At the Spring Creatives Market, art lovers will be able to choose from original artwork, photography and laser-cut designs.

Those looking for ideas to refresh their homes and wardrobes can shop for hats and scarves, handmade bags and jewellery made from sea glass, gems, pearls and crystal. Homewares will range from wooden bowls and chunky knit blankets to carved and macrame wall art and upcycled retro decor.

Fragrances and wellness stands will feature everything from wax candles, melts and diffusers through to natural soaps, balms and skincare, including vegan and eco-friendly options.

There will also be plenty of locally produced treats to enjoy or take home – from handcrafted gin and cider to preserves, condiments and baked goods.

The Spring Creatives Market will also shine a spotlight on local charities and community groups including the RNLI, Sea Cadets and Scottish Wildlife Trust.

On Sunday, visitors can also visit Irvine Share & Repair’s popular ‘Pop Up Repair Shop and get help fixing their small electrical items and giving them a new lease of life.

The Scottish Maritime Museum’s Spring Creatives Market will take place inside the Linthouse building and out in the Courtyard on Harbour Road, Irvine, from 11am – 4pm on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March. Entry is free.
