Following the Scottish Maritime Museum’s popular Climate Change-themed exhibitions and events last year, the Museum’s Education Team has launched an online climate change education programme for schools across Ayrshire.
The online programme, which focuses on ocean climate change, is linked to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and targeted at different Curriculum for Excellence learning stages across primary school and early secondary school years.
The new programme is delivered over two online, hour long workshops and includes an experiment the schoolchildren complete (with all required materials supplied).
The pupils also take part in a Q&A exploring sustainable actions everyone can take.
Schools also complete a sustainability project between the workshops.
Announcing the new online Climate Change workshops, Sarah Takhar, Learning and Access Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:
We’re excited to launch our new online Climate Change workshops. As well as exploring ocean climate change with pupils, we’re looking forward to hearing what sustainable practices and programmes they themselves come up with.”
