 The Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside is backing this year’s national Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Saturday 6 December.

The annual Small Business Saturday UK campaign highlights, and promotes support for, small businesses across the country.

Christopher Woodland, Revenue Development Manager at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:

Supporting our communities in Irvine and West Dunbartonshire is central to the Museum’s mission and part of that involves creating opportunities for local businesses and helping promote them. Our upcoming Winter Market (28 – 30 November) is a perfect example of this.

“For that reason, we’re delighted to take part in Small Business Saturday once again and encourage people to choose local shops over large retail chains and help them to survive and thrive.

“Shopping locally also keeps money circulating within the community which can lead to new jobs and stronger, more resilient local areas.”

Small Business Saturday follows the Museum’s free, three day Winter Market running from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 November. The Winter Market will feature over 80 local and regional businesses over the course of the event.

The Museum operates the popular Boatshop beside Puffers Café Bistro as well as a Museum Gift Shop in the Linthouse building.
