 The Scottish Maritime Museum has opened bookings for a new collage masterclass which will run twice this May.

The Sail & Scissors Masterclass is the first collage workshop run by the Museum on Irvine Harbourside.

The day-long Masterclass, which will take place 10am – 4pm on Saturday 3 and Saturday 17 May, will be led by Angela Ortenzi-MacColl (BA Hons), a Mixed Media Artist based in Irvine.

Angela’s lifelong appreciation of beautiful textiles and patterns have informed the last five years of her practice, working with an ever-increasing collection of collage design papers and techniques.

Participants will learn how to create bold and narrative-led collages with flowing lines and intricate details.

After choosing one of two base designs – ‘Eclectic Blush’ (a vase with flowers) and ‘Magnetta Recalls’ (an imagined portrait) – participants will fire their imagination and develop their skills recreating the images in their own style.

If you can cut and glue, you can delight in this expressive, fun and inclusive workshop. Artist Angela Ortenzi-MacColl adds:

Places on the Collage Masterclass are £60 per person. Art materials and light refreshments are included.

The Collage Masterclass is suitable for 16 years and over and no prior experience is required.
