SCOTTISH MARITIME MUSEUM ANNOUNCES RETURN OF POPULAR FUSED GLASS WORKSHOPS

These workshops have now taken place
Sailboats & Christmas Decorations
Sunday 3 November, Saturday 23 November
& Saturday 14 December
The Scottish Maritime Museum has opened bookings for a new run of the popular fused glass workshops this November and December.
The three hour fun and informative workshops, which will take place in the Museum’s Linthouse building on Irvine Harbourside, will be led by Eilidh Mackenzie, a contemporary glass artist with over 25 years experience.
At the first workshops, which will take place on Sunday 3 November, participants will be introduced to the skills of glass cutting and assembly before crafting colourful fused glass sailboats.
On Saturday 23 November and Saturday 14 December participants will create a collection of five pretty fused glass Christmas decorations.
Two workshops will run on each day, from 10am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Announcing the new workshops, Eva Bukowska, Exhibitions and Events Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:
We’re thrilled to offer a new run of our popular fused glass workshops. They’re perfect for beginners who want to learn exciting new skills or for those looking to develop existing talents.
Taking place in November and December, they’re also ideal for those keen to create a truly personal and individual gift for friends or family this Christmas.
Eilidh is a wonderfully creative glass artist and an enthusiastic and patient teacher and we’re delighted to work with her once again.
As there are only ten places on each of the nine workshops, I encourage everyone to book early!
Eilidh, a lecturer in glass at City of Glasgow College since 2015 and member of the Scottish Glass Society since 1998, adds:
Fusing glass is such a magical experience and I’m looking forward to helping everyone feel as inspired by the colours, textures and play of light on glass as I am.
For those who have never worked with glass before, it’s an ideal opportunity for some hands-on experience. Whether beginner or more advanced, everyone will enjoy creating their own piece of glass art to take home to treasure or gift.

Places on the fused glass sailboat workshops are £60 per person and the Christmas decoration workshops are priced £50 per person.
Workshops are suitable for 16 years and over and there are 10 places available on each.
No prior experience required.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
