Scottish Maritime Museum Announces First Ever Community Ideas Afternoon

This event has now taken place

The Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside invites everyone living in the local area to enjoy free entry and fun activities at the Museum’s first ever Community Ideas event on Saturday 23rd March.

The Community Ideas afternoon will run between 1pm – 4pm.

Jennifer Pless, Community Engagement and Development Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, explains:

Our Community Ideas event will give local families and individuals a great opportunity to have their say on what they want and need from their local national museum.

“We’re especially keen to hear ideas for exhibitions and activities everyone would like to see and participate in over coming months.

“We’d also love to hear from anyone interested in hearing about community opportunities for co-producing Museum exhibitions.

“In addition, for those who have shipyard connections, there’ll also be a chance to share memories as part of another project for our upcoming Summer exhibition.”

To fire everyone’s imagination, visitors coming along to the Community Ideas event will be able to design their ‘Dream Maritime Museum’ and families can take ‘Ducky’ on an adventure to their favourite exhibit.

Free tickets to the Community Ideas event are available on the Scottish Maritime Museum website – www.scottishmaritimemuseum.org
