Thanks to the continued support of Ayrshire Food an’ a’ That, the Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside is delighted to bring back the ever-popular, free Makers and Producers Market on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.
Running from 11am to 4pm each day, the vibrant market, which has also been made possible by the support of the Great Harbour Community Fund, will feature 60 talented local artisans, crafters and food and drink producers from across Ayrshire.
Visitors can browse an inspiring selection of handmade products including woodcrafts, ceramics, glassware, jewellery, candles, soaps, handbags, homewares, children’s clothing and delicious baked treats.
As well as the Market, laid out across the Museum’s historic glass-roofed Linthouse and outside Courtyard, visitors can also enjoy a packed programme of attractions over the weekend.
On Saturday 15 August, visitors can experience Gu’un the fish n’ that, a powerful new immersive sound installation exploring the lives of Scotland’s ‘herring girls’ of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The exhibition will be officially opened by the Marymass Queen at 2.30pm followed by free entry to the installation and a Meet the Artist session with creator Beverley Carruthers at 3pm.
Visitors can also watch a Model Boat Display on the Museum’s boating pond and even take the controls themselves and try steering one of the miniature marvels!
On Sunday 16 August, motoring enthusiasts and families can enjoy a stunning showcase of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Throughout the weekend, visitors of all ages can have a go at ‘Street Curling’ with the Auchenharvie Curling Development Group.
