Open now! Closing date Friday 18 August
The Scottish Maritime Museum is inviting young creatives to fire their imagination and take part in a new ‘My Fantastic Ship’ children’s art competition.
Ten winning entries will go on show later this year as part of the Museum’s upcoming Summer exhibition, ‘Dream Destinations’.
The ‘My Fantastic Ship’ competition is open to children aged 5 to 12 years.
To enter, children need to design and build a 3D ‘Fantastic Ship’ to transport them to their ‘dream destination’.
The ship can be made using any technique and from any materials including upcycling toilet rolls, containers, boxes and paper.
The competition runs over the summer holidays until Friday 18 August.
The Museum’s major summer exhibition, ‘Dream Destinations’, which opens on Saturday 1 July, celebrates the rise of Scotland’s seaside resorts and the golden age of ‘going doon the watter’.
Claire Munro, Learning and Access Manager at the Scottish Maritime Museum says:
“We wanted to create a really exciting opportunity for young artists to showcase their creativity and imagination on a local stage.
“With our ‘My Fantastic Ship’ art competition, children can go to town imagining what their dream destination would be and create a fabulous vessel to transport them there! We can’t wait to see what everyone imagines and builds and showcasing ten at the Museum later this year.”
