Plan your school visit

We are currently able to provide both onsite and online Learning Workshops. Read on to see if we can help subsidise your transport costs up to £250.

We are pleased to announce our onsite workshops are back at the museum and available for school bookings. Workshops and interactive and hands-on learning experience focused on STEM, Social Studies and Expressive Arts inspired by objects and stories from the museum’s collection.

Bringing your class to one our museums in Irvine or Dumbarton, we can help subsidise your transport costs up to £250. This covers the cost of private hire transport and ferries for the journey to and from the museum. For Irvine this subsidy is available for primary schools and EYC in East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire. For Dumbarton the subsidy is available for primary schools and EYC in Argyll and Bute, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, Stirling, & West Dunbartonshire.

Our fantastic cross-curricular ‘Ship to Shore Online Learning Workshops’ centre on the Scottish Maritime Museum’s most popular Curriculum for Excellence linked STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities. We offer these sessions to school around both our Irvine and Dumbarton sites. Schools around our Dumbarton museum (Argyll and Bute, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, Stirling, & West Dunbartonshire) are eligible for free workshops through funding.
