Visitors gathered at the Scottish Maritime Museum to celebrate the opening of a new community co-produced art exhibition created in collaboration with unpaid carers from across North Ayrshire.
Harbourside Headspace, now on display in the Museum’s Boat Shop beside Puffers Café Bistro on Irvine Harbourside, explores Ayrshire’s coastal landscape through art.
Participants developed new skills in printmaking, paper crafts and needle felting, working together to co-produce the free exhibition.
The Harbourside Headspace creative workshops and exhibition have been made possible by North Ayrshire Carers Community Fund, managed by North Ayrshire Carers Gateway, and Museums Galleries Scotland.
Jennifer Pless, Community Engagement and Development Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:
We are delighted by the great reception this beautiful, community-created exhibition has received.
“Inspired by our national maritime art collection, this talented group applied a variety of creative techniques and repurposed materials to produce their own, personal and striking interpretations of our local coastline.
“We encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this free exhibition in the Boat Shop before it closes on Wednesday 22 April.”
Harbourside Headspace is free to view and will be on display in the Museum Boatshop on Irvine Harbourside until Wednesday 22 April.
