As part of the Scottish Maritime Museum’s current exhibition ‘Sea Monsters!’ we will be running a programme of film screenings twice a month, on Sundays.
Go to the movies at the Scottish Maritime Museum FREE with your entry to the museum.
We advise visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance of the movie start time so that there is time to see the museum, the Sea Monsters! Exhibition and get snacks, drinks etc.

The Little Mermaid (1989)
Walt Disney Animation based loosely on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. The film tells the story of a teenage mermaid princess named Ariel who dreams of becoming human.
Sunday 28th August, 5pm
Deep Blue Sea (1999)
Science fiction, horror film, set in an isolated underwater facility. The film follows a team of scientists and their research on mako sharks to help fight Alzheimer’s disease. The situation plunges into chaos when multiple genetically engineered sharks go on a rampage and flood the facility.

A young man is reunited with a mermaid who saved him from drowning as a boy. He falls in love with her, not knowing who or what she is. Starring Tom Hanks and Daryll Hannah.

The Shape of Water (2018)
Romantic fantasy film, set in 1962 Baltimore. The film follows a mute cleaner at a high-security government laboratory who falls in love with a captive humanoid amphibian creature and decides to help him escape from death at the hands of an evil colonel.

Computer animated fantasy film, set on the Italian Riviera. The film features a young sea monster boy with the ability to assume human form while on land, who goes exploring with his new best friend, experiencing a life-changing summer adventure.

Classic America Technicolor science fiction adventure film, adaptation of Jules Verne’s 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. Starring Kirk Douglas and James Mason.
