Visit this exhibition built inside the hold of the last surviving Scottish-built puffer! Puffers were integral lifelines to the west coast of Scotland and the islands for over a hundred years. This exhibition, funded by Museums Galleries Scotland, showcases and details the role of puffers such as Spartan in the maritime and social history of Scotland using previously unseen photographs from the Museum’s collection.
Learn how these iconic boats evolved from small sailing coasters to steamships to diesel engine lifelines, made famous in films such as The Maggie and on TV and Radio in Neil Munro’s Para Handy stories.
Entry included in admission charge.
