Event goals and objectives

It is important for ecological education to instil positive attitudes and a sense of moral responsibility towards the natural and social environment. When teaching children and youth about ecological education, there are several key elements to focus on. These include strengthening positive attitudes towards the natural environment, developing sensitivity to nature, fostering the need for contact with a clean environment, and developing a sense of responsibility for maintaining and multiplying environmental resources.

To develop children’s sensitivity to the environment, it is crucial to provide them with knowledge about the living conditions of animals and plants, as well as natural phenomena. Additionally, children ought to be taught to observe and appreciate the beauty of flora, fauna, and natural wonders in their surrounding environment. Developing expressive communication skills and learning about climate conditions can also aid in this process. Finally, teaching children to recognise and evaluate inappropriate behaviour towards the environment, such as littering, breaking trees, or lighting fires in prohibited places.

Event program for Saturday 7th October

Come along to the Museum from 10am for talks, workshops, and clean-up sessions. There will be a limited amount of personal protective equipment along with cleaning supplies and refreshments during lunchtime. Participants can also enjoy decorating the whale and seed flowers and sharing their experiences.
