It was a full house at the Scottish Maritime Museum last night (Thursday 11 September) as Doug Allan OBE, one of the world’s foremost wildlife cameramen and a passionate environmental advocate, delivered a special talk on climate change.

Described by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the most exceptional wildlife cameramen of our time”, Doug presented the free event, Connecting with Climate Change, or what he preferred to call ‘Climate Breakdown’, drawing on nearly

four decades of experience filming in some of Earth’s most remote and vulnerable environments.

Through the talk, Doug offered a compelling look at the growing impacts of climate change and the urgent need to act – for the sake of our planet, our children and future generations.

Connecting with Climate Change was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Great Harbour Community Fund, delivered through the Ayrshire Growth Deal.

This inspiring evening is followed by two free workshops in wildlife photography and creative writing taking place this weekend (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September). The sessions will be led by Ayrshire artist Christina Riley and are also supported by the Great Harbour Community Fund.
The evening with Doug Allan also served as a fitting finale to the Museum’s summer exhibition, Beneath the Waves, which concludes on Saturday (13 September).
