Exhibition and Events Officer

Permanent part-time contract (18.5 hours)

Salary: £19,000 pro-rata

Location: Irvine and Dumbarton

The Scottish Maritime Museum is looking to recruit a permanent part-time Exhibitions and Events Officer, based at the Museum in Irvine, to deliver an exciting programme of exhibitions and events, highlighting our nationally Recognised Collection.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a museum environment, along with developing projects and events in order to competently research, develop and launch a series of exhibitions and an associated events programme at the Scottish Maritime Museum.

Key Activities:         

The post holder will:

  • have a key role in delivering the Museum’s five year exhibition and events programme working closely with Museum staff and volunteers.
  • curate special temporary exhibitions researching and interpreting materials and writing content to appear in print and online.
  • develop and deliver a series of public events to enhance the exhibitions programme.
  • deliver and develop the Museum’s evaluation plan and gathering audience evaluation.
  • liaise with staff on producing information on events and activities for marketing and promotional purposes, including contributing to social media and webpage content.
  • assist with administration of exhibitions including loans, contribute to management and funders reports.
  • carry out conservation reports on objects selected for display.
