There’ll be lots of swashbuckling fun at the Scottish Maritime Museum on the Harbourside in Irvine this month as young buccaneers weigh anchor for a day-long Pirate Takeover on Sunday 23 September.

The fun–filled day for children of all ages and their families is back by popular demand.

Running from 11am to 4pm, the Pirate Takeover will feature a special pirate treasure hunt trail, face painting, a bouncy pirate ship castle, fun games around the Museum and ‘make and take’ crafts.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up for the day.

Jamie Menzies, Learning and Access Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says:

“We’re inviting everyone to grab an eye patch, tricorn and bandana and join us as we hoist the jolly roger and set sail on the briny with another fabulously fun Pirate Takeover! “We’ve got lots of fun activities and hands on crafts planned for children of all ages and look forward to seeing lots of young pirates raise the Museum roof!”

As usual up to three children go FREE with every adult admission making the Museum great value as well as a whole lot of fun. Parking is free and the Museum is just five minutes walk from Irvine train station.
