Safety Flame Lamp from the Shale Oil Museum
This object from the collection of the Shale oil Museum at the Almond Valley is a Hailwood and Akroyd safety flame lamp. Acquired from John Gilfeather, who worked as a lampman in Westwood pit after losing part of his leg when he was younger, due to possibly an accident with a hutch. Dates from around 1950.
The 3D model was created by the Scottish Maritime Museum as a part of the Scanning The Horizon project, working with collections from Industrial Museums Scotland (Go Industrial).
